Reuters is reporting that T-Mobile USA has posted the best subscriber growth in the fourth quarter of 2003, the period in which number portability became possible. According to the article:
… T-Mobile, the sixth-largest U.S. wireless service, added 1.015 million customers and beat analysts’ targets for 829,000 to 838,000 new customers as it was helped by the rules that took effect on Nov. 24, it said.
Why are they growing faster than Cingular and AT&T Wireless, who have also reported their subscriber numbers? Well, they’re less expensive than both of those carriers, and they extended the night and weekend time period more than other carriers. This is the period when mobile phone use is free.
T-Mobile is also offering great deals on new multimedia mobile phones. An example of the kind of deals that are available is Amazon’s discounted price for the Sony Ericsson T610 Phone. Click through to see the lowest price available with a T-Mobile service contract.
Verizon Wireless has not yet reported subscriber numbers, but is expected to do so on Thursday. [ via MobileTracker ]
