A number of information sources previously reported that Motorola is planning a smartphone called the Motorola MPx220 to replace the MPx200 that is currently available for the AT&T Wireless network. Smartphone Thoughts now reports that the Motorola MPx220 is not expected to ship until late June, although an earlier shipment was predicted in most earlier reports.
Should this news influence your Smartphone purchase plans? The major new features of the MPx220 are expected to be:
- Windows Mobile 2003 support,
- built-in digital camera, and
- Bluetooth personal wireless network support.
These features are definitely useful. But, if you are the kind of person who is attracted to the Smartphone feature set, and you don’t have a phone that includes access to data synchronized from your copy of Microsoft Outlook, I probably wouldn’t wait five to six months just to get the new features of the MPx220.
