The Register’s Tony Smith reportedly interviewed Ed Colligan of palmOne. Smith’s article about the interview, published yesterday, revealed a number of useful pieces of information about palmOne’s future plans. The most immediate news to come out was that palmOne intends to issue a Treo 600 firmware update this week that will include improvements in the device’s GPRS support.
Colligan also discussed the convergence of software that is shipped with the company’s PDAs and smartphones, reportedly saying that their goal was to offer the same web browser, email, messaging, media and PIM apps for its entire line of devices by the end of the year.
He did not confirm the rumor that palmOne intends to ship a new model in the Treo line known as the Treo 610. This has been speculated about for weeks, but has never been acknowledged by anyone from palmOne.
