Earlier today, PhoneScoop reported that Panasonic announced its first Series 60 mobile phone called the Panasonic X700. It is expected to ship in Europe in Fall 2004. Panasonic made the announcement at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France.
Operation Gadget does not normally cover product announcements of this sort, but Panasonic’s announcement ties in with the more general article about Series 60 phones that we published here last Friday. There was a reason that Series60.com didn’t mention specific phone models made by Panasonic– none have shipped yet.
This phone will have some nice features when it becomes available, including:
- tri-band GSM,
- class 10 GPRS (high speed wireless Internet access),
- miniSD card support,
- digital camera with flash,
- Microsoft Office file viewers and editing tools,
- Java MIDP 2.0,
- infared, and
- speaker-independent voice dialing.
Photos and links to Panasonic’s own announcement are included in the PhoneScoop article.
