I saw an article on Slashdot that says that PhatAudio.org has posted a review of the Rio Karma portable audio player. I wasn’t able to read it immediately because it was slashdotted. According to the Slashdot article:
… besides OGG/FLAC/MP3/WMA playback, {it} has a great little dock that syncs the player via ethernet. One little known gem is that this player comes with java-based software that allows users to download the software directly from the player via any browser and sync the Karma with Linux, Mac OS X, and any other OS that Java runs on.
The Rio Karma has a 20-gigabyte disk drive that can hold 330 hours of MP3 or 660 hours of WMA files. Its lithium ion battery can play continuously for 15 hours before it needs to be recharged. It’s smaller than the equivalent-capacity iPod in both length and width, slightly thicker, and 1/10 of an ounce lighter. You may also be interested to know that it’s about $50 cheaper than the 20-gigabyte iPod.
Overall, the Rio Karma looks like a good package.
