palmOne announced the early-March availability of the Treo 650 in the UK, France, Switzerland, and Italy today. The carriers that will be supporting it initially are Orange and TIM.
One interesting aspect of this announcement is the fact that the Treo 650 is part of Orange’s Signature line of phones. Phones in this line include the SPV C500 and the Motorola MPx200, and they come pre-loaded with Orange-specific applications that enhance the experience of using these phones.
Included in this offering are services like Memory Mate and Orange Backup where the carrier provides a mechanism to ensure that data on the phone isn’t lost in the event of failure or theft. This is an excellent feature, something that I wish carriers in the USA offered, even if phones like the Treo 650 has the ability to sync with a PC.
