Inadvertent Linux Upgrade

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Sorry there weren’t any updates for most of the day today. The laptop I use, a Dell Inspiron running Fedora Core 1 Linux was running like a top until I needed to compile something with the C compiler (gcc) and the operating system headers. “Linux experts” like me are supposed to know which package the headers are in (not the “kernel” package). Because I didn’t know or had a brain cramp, I mistakenly upgraded my kernel, which broke several things.

Since I was on the side of the road with the hood up already, I decided to go for the upgrade from Fedora Core 1 to Fedora Core 2. Hours later, I am back on-line.
